Serious undertaking, mocking a 7-round draft this early in the season — you obviously put a lot of time and thought into the process. Some things for you to consider:

First Round – It’s a weak CB class this year and I don’t see teams investing a 1st round choice in either Perrish Cox or Donovan Warren.

Second Round – Tebow is a wild card, no comment; however, even though OG is not normally drafted high, if Iupati continues to impress at the Combine, don’t see him dropping to 2nd. Dallas is set at SS with Sensabaugh and does not want to go with another big-hitting safety with limited coverage skills, a la Roy Williams.

Third Round – Some outstanding talent that you have dropped to the 3rd round — if the draft falls this way, a lot of teams will be acquiring excellent value.

Would write more, but on my way to a basketball game!

I believe the Bucs have Baltimore’s 7th rd. pick also.
#35 seems a tad high for Mike Neal.I think Tampa would take Iupati if available; Zuttah can’t play the left guard spot, & Sears looks to be toast.

    No Dorrin Dickerson?

You really think the Steelers will take Terence “lazy” Cody? Tomlin hates that Hampton is slow and a bit lazy, and you think he’s gonna tab that tub of lard to replace him? Short sided friend, plus they got Hoke.

I’d give em Mayes in the first and Arenas in the second, assuming they don’t trade down to get Williams. Also they don’t take ILBs from Iowa man, they take OLBs and covert em to the inside and undersized ends to play outside, so they would basically never take the first 3 guys you have em drafting. Also they would never draft a kicker when they can sign one. This is why most people stop at 3 rounds

Wonderful job. I am very impressed by such a detailed early look at the draft. My only concern as a Steeler fan is that not one Offensive Lineman was chosen. I certainly hope that changes by the actual draft! Thanks for such an advanced look this soon.

Did I get track backs from a steelers site? haha. thanks for the reads and comments guys. will adjust my needs and lockouts for the Steelers.

Wow. Very thorough. Hampton will only be back for one more year. So if the Steelers want to continue to play the 3-4 they have to take a serious look at Cody. I do hope we come away with at least a couple of OL prospects though.

Bob Smizik posted a link in his Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Blog, so that’s why you have pittsburgher comments. I have a feeling the steelers will trade up in the draft. They’ve shown they’re clearly willing with Polamalu and Holmes. Maybe for one of the DB’s, depending on how the first 6 or 7 picks pan out. It’s just a feeling though.

Tebow to St. Louis will not happen. He will need at least one redshirt year and even after that he is an unknown. I think a team as bad as them needs to take more of a surething at qb. Also, what is the reasoning behind Colt McCoy falling to the 7th round?

You are leaving out Dorin Dickerson (PITT) Big time sleeper in this draft. Possibly the best athlete in the draft.

Why do you think that Sean Lee of Penn State will not be picked?

  • Scott Carasik (author) said:

Mr. Leech, Lee is going 158 to the Raiders.

Colt McCoy in the 15th round?

never been a big fan of McCoy.
