NFL 2010 Mock Draft – Nov 12th Edition

Yes, we are drinking the Clausen kool-aid. As should everyone else. This guy is legit.

With every passing week in football season, college and pro, we learn so much more about the NFL draft. We see college players’ stocks rising and falling each week. We see what NFL teams really need and compare it to what we saw the week before. And finally, we try and put our so-called “knowledge” of football, schemes, character issues, and try and become a NFL GM. Or at least that is what we have attempted to do. I have teamed up with our Mock Draft correspondent Scott Carasik and alternated picks with him on who we think each team will take. He went first, I followed. For those of you who are a bit slow, he took the odd numbers, I took the evens. Hope you all enjoy and be sure to leave us your thoughts!

1)St. Louis Rams – QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame

Jimmy is such a good QB and is pro ready. Been a 4 year starter in a pro style offense. too good to pass up for a QB poor team

2)Kansas City Chiefs – OT Russell Okung, Okla State

Chiefs O-Line needs help. Badly.

3)Detroit Lions – DT Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska

The team needs help inside badly when Grady Jackson was considered an improvement. Suh will be an anchor in the middle of the line for them.

4)Cleveland Browns – QB Jake Locker, Washington

We all know what the Browns need. I’m just not sure if Locker is an improvement over anything they have.

Could the Browns miss on another QB Prospect?

Could the Browns miss on another QB Prospect?

5)Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DT Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma

Tampa needs a true DT to help them out in the middle of their defense and allow Barrett Ruud to roam free.

6)Washington Redskins – QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma

I think guys are going to forget how good he actually is until the combine. Plus, we all know Dan Snyder takes gambles in the draft.

7)Oakland Raiders – OT Bruce Campbell, Maryland

Russell sucks, but Davis will go OT for once and give him a little bit of protection.

8)Tennessee Titans – CB Joe Haden, Florida

Everytime I see this kid play, I see NFL all over him. I’m almost certain he will be a top 10 pick and the Titans need help at CB pretty badly.

9)Seattle Seahawks – QB Tim Tebow, Florida

I’m sure I’ll get complaints about him being too high, but let’s face it. they need a QB, and with Hasselbeck, they can let Tebow learn for 2-3 years. He has mobility to escape the blitz they will face a lot and has intangibles everywhere. Tebow will go top 10 no doubt about it, and Seattle is the best fit.

10)San Francisco 49ers – S Eric Berry, Tennessee

A big drop from most mocks, but if you think Singletary would let a guy like Berry drop past him then you are crazy. Berry could give the 49ers that edge to get over the hump and become an elite defense for many years.

The Niners would love to have Eric Berry in their defensive backfield.

The Niners would love to have Eric Berry in their defensive backfield.

11)Buffalo Bills – OT Charles Brown, Southern California

I realize this is another pick people will say too high. I don’t try and reach, but rather fit a guy to what I think the team will do. Brown is a very good OT and could lock down the left side for the Bills in pass pro. The Bills are known to reach recently with Whitner and Wood both being drafted about a round too early yet still producing well.

12)San Francisco 49ers (via Carolina) – NT Terrance Cody, Alabama

Another addition to this 49ers defense and it would be an elite unit. Cody will eat up blockers in that 3-4 defense and could be a force to reckon with for years. With Berry and Cody, the 49ers are an elite pass rusher from being tops in the league.

13)Green Bay Packers – S Taylor Mays, Southern California

Mays is a Polamalu style S. flies everywhere and could be used in multiple roles on the field. Just a beast and a half and the BPA. They may not need a S, but a guy like Mays will change the way you call plays.

14)Jacksonville Jags – DE Carlos Dunlap, Florida

Whether or not you think he is a hard worker, one thing is for certain: he will turn heads at the combine. He is a physical freak and he will “wow” a bunch of scouts. Combine that with the fact that Jacksonville loves Florida players and that particular player named Tebow isn’t available, they may actually address a need.

15)Denver Broncos (via Chicago) – DT/DE Arthur Jones, Syracuse

Jones looks like he should be a damn good DE in the 3-4. Looks like a guy who has the quickness and strength to be a good 5 tech for the Broncos and allow Dumervil to get more sacks.

16)New York Jets – CB Trevard Lindley, Kentucky

The Jets have one great corner and improve greatly with another cover guy in that scary Rex Ryan defense. The Jets believe to be concerned about Jenkins’ health, so NT could be a possibility here too, I just didn’t see the value.

17)Baltimore Ravens – WR Dez Bryant – Oklahoma State

Baltimore needs WR’s. No question about it. Mason is in his last year and Clayton needs replacing. Bryant is a good fit for them and should give them a WR to help out that isn’t named Ray Rice.

18)Miami Dolphins – LB Rolando McClain, Alabama

The Dolphins will continue to get better if Parcells is running the team. And even though wide receiver is a huge need for this team, I see them taking value over need and McClain is one of the top linebackers in this draft.

19)Houston Texans – WR Damian Williams, Southern California

Williams is a good fit for a slot WR or #2. Kevin Walter is a solid player, but if they want Schaub to get better, they are going to have to give him more weapons.

20)New York Giants – S Earl Thomas, Texas

We all know the Giants pass defense is a problem and as much as the Giants will want to take Spikes, I think safety is a bigger need for this defense.

21)Arizona Cardinals – OT Jason Fox, Miami

Quick, big and strong. Fox will skyrocket after the bowl games and senior bowl. he is easily one of the best LT’s in college right now and Arizona could use a good one to help them out in pass protection.

22)San Diego Chargers – WR Arrelious Benn, Illinois

With the recent release of Chris Chambers, I think the Chargers made it clear that they will address the WR position. Regus Benn was a Top 5 pick coming into the season but based on his QB problems in Champaign, his stock has plummeted. Chargers could be getting the best WR of the class here.

Should the Chargers take Regus?

23)Philadelphia Eagles – OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma

With Jason Peters going down to injury, Shawn Andrews going crazy, Stacy Andrews being a RG and Justice being ok at best, they need an OT in a bad way to play either spot on the line for them. Williams looks the part of a LT and will fit well on that OL.

24)Atlanta Falcons – DE Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech

The Falcons could upgrade their CB position or possibly LB position, but they focus on pass rush to help out their porous secondary. If they can get a pass rush, those guys don’t have to cover for as long. Morgan would take some heat off of Abraham.

25)Pittsburgh Steelers – CB Ras-I Dowling, Virginia

Dowling isn’t worth a 1st round pick. but Pitt will take him based on scheme fit and physicality.

26)Cincinnati Bengals – RB CJ Spiller, Clemson

I definitely see the Bengals taking Spiller here just in case Benson is that one year wonder. And even if he isn’t, he’d be a good compliment to Benson.

27)Dallas Cowboys – LB Brandon Spikes, Florida

Keith Brooking is old, and Spikes reminds me a lot of Patrick Willis coming out. should be a great fit for the WILB spot in Dallas’s defense and will allow the Dallas defense to improve when Brooking moves on.

Spikes would be a perfect fit in Dallas.

Spikes would be a perfect fit in Dallas.

28)Seattle Seahawks – OT Brian Bulaga, Iowa

Bulaga has seen his stock slip lately as he has been injured/sick and has been inconsistent in pass pro. If he can stay on the field, he is enough of a physical specimen in which he should be successful in the NFL.

29)New England Patriots – LB Eric Norwood, South Carolina

After losing Mayo for part of the year, their pass rush was exposed. They take Norwood to flank on the other side of the defense from Thomas and give them a much better pass rush.

30)Minnesota Vikings – LB Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri

The Vikings seem to have guys at LB that are playing a little better then they actually are. I think Weatherspoon would make Vikings fans realize what a good coverage LB would be like. Plus he is very good in a zone.

31)New Orleans Saints – OLB Travis Lewis, Oklahoma

Shanle is terrible and Lewis will come in as an immediate upgrade.

32)Indianapolis Colts – DE Greg Hardy, Ole Miss

DE isn’t a great need for the Colts, but they can work him in especially if Freeney or Mathis gets hurt. Plus, Mathis and back Raheem Brock will both be Free Agents in 2011.

Man, I absolutely LOVE your mock draft. You are the first draft I have seen with Seattle taking Tim Tebow and I would be absolutely thrilled!!

  • TB said:

Seattle would not take Tebow over Berry, are you insane? Safety is a much bigger need than QB at this point. Plus, Tebow is trash and will never be a good NFL QB.
