Last season recap: (87-75) 2nd in AL West; The Rangers surprised many last year by competing for a playoff spot and should be much better this year. The weird thing about this team was that they were not a typical Rangers team. Their usually dominant offense took a dip while their pitching improved greatly. But as their season progressed, their pitching wore down and that was ultimately why they didn’t make the playoffs.
Key Additions: Chris Ray, Darren Oliver, Vladimir Guerrero, Rich Harden

If Harden stays healthy, the Rangers can be dangerous
Key Losses: Ivan Rodriguez, Marlon Byrd, Hank Blalock
Offense: Like stated above, the Rangers, outside of last year, are a dominant force with the bats. With the addition of Vladimir Guerrero – even though he is past his prime, should help run production. His leadership will be a big boost in the clubhouse also.
Pitching: The addition of Rich Harden is very enticing as this pitching staff did much better than suspected. If Harden can stay healthy, and thats a big if, then the Rangers can probably compete in the American League this year.
Summary: The Rangers are young and I think if they can be more consistent and stay healthy they can compete for the division. All in all, the big factor is if their pitching can hold. I honestly think they are a couple of years away.
Prediction: 82-80 (3rd in AL West)
